The characters in this story:
(Little Princess, a very wise mermaid)
(White Swan, the author’s nickname)
I was walking on the “Smile Trail”, a path along the sea so narrow that whenever you come across
someone, one has to stop and let the other pass. I used to pass first because of my stupid social
programming to always try to be first. Now I stop and let others pass. Most of the time, I get a great
smile and a friendly hello! That’s why I call it the Smile Trail.
On the left, the beautiful blue sea, on the right, vast parks, and splendid mansions on one of the
highest-priced capes of the Riviera. I was a little saddened looking at all this wealth. Why didn’t I
succeed and be a billionaire myself? At eighty I didn’t even have a Rolex watch! Did I fail my whole
life?
And then she came, out of the water. A real beauty! Resplendent eyes shining with intelligence, love,
and wisdom. A magnificent body. Most to my surprise when I looked down I saw that instead of
legs she had a tail-fin. A little mermaid!
I could not believe my eyes. Then she started talking to me. In my own language! I later discovered
that she’s so flexible that she can completely change her appearance, and walks with beautiful
long legs and runs like a gazelle, and even flies when she puts on her magic boots.
My little princess was coming from the kingdom of love and beauty, a mysterious undersea land
where everyone has the wisdom to know the true meaning of life.
Hey! Young man, don’t be sad. Love life! Your potential has no limits!
What are you talking about? I’m an old wreck now coming to the end of my life. Just realized that I
failed to create real wealth.
You, men of the surface, only have a superficial incomplete view of the world. You’re not on this planet to accumulate stuff. You’re on earth to become the best possible human being you can be! And discover, create, share, love, and be healthy, and happy! There are no limits to what you can achieve in these fields.
Wait a minute! I know I have all sorts of limitations, but how could I change them?
You only have the limits you believe you have! When you were a child and started discovering the
world you did not know fear, only love and attraction for those close to you. You wanted to do like
your mum and dad: walk! And you started to walk, falling and starting again, and again until you
did walk! You had no idea of your limits! Then your parents and later your friends your teachers and society, in general, made you believe that you were insufficient. Not good enough. Too clumsy. Limited.
And you believed all these lies. But that’s not you!
You might have a point there, but where does that come from? Why do I have all these limiting
beliefs?
The answer is fear! Fear is a great survival tool. Your ancestors could not survive – so you would
not even be here alive – if they did not have this built-in protection mechanism, fear! This is what
you call the primitive mind. It just instantly reacts to danger. No thoughts about the consequences of
an action. Just a reaction to danger.
Later in evolution, humans grew another form of brain cell, the frontal cortex. A wonderful system
that gives a better understanding of the environment. A system that allows humans to partially
predict the future, a sort of simulator that creates and helps choose different possible developments
in any situation.
The problem is that both systems work at the same time, the automatic one for danger and justified
fear and the other for the possible creation of bliss alternatives. When the latter takes power and
pushes you to act with love, life can become fabulous. Sadly to work that way, you need education,
training, effort, and wisdom!
Control of one’s emotions does not come easily. Emotions are a sort of radar that tells you what is
going on. But you have to learn how to understand what your emotions are telling you. Overtime
the primitive brain, which is still working full gear in modern times, often takes power and chooses
actions motivated by fear. That’s why so much in the world of surface needs improvement, to say
the least! Hate, suffering, misery, and wars all originate from fear.
What do you mean? Fear is at the core of fights? Wars are caused by fear?
Of course! Fear of the invader is what makes people fight in the vain hope of protecting their kids,
family, and country. Fear of missing food and goods motivates the invaders.
Fear not only creates violence but most importantly it creates unhappiness. Any power usurped
over others makes people unhappy. The only power that makes you happy is the power you have
over yourself to grow, create, and discover new domains by winning over your fears!
Do you mean that fear is the cause of all misery in the world?
Not all, but most. And it all starts with a lack of love, love of self! Most people don’t love
themselves, even when they have high self-esteem. Some even hate themselves. How can you love
others when you hate yourself?
I can’t believe you! Look at all the successful people who got these beautiful mansions. Do you tell
me that they don’t like themselves?
Well! Some do, but most inherit wealth. And many live in fear of losing what they have. They
might show the appearance of self-confidence and yet many deep inside know that they don’t
deserve what they have. Love is not their true motivation. Showing off is their protection against
fear. And most are unhappy. Why do so many use drugs and alcohol and have all sorts of other self-destructing addictions? But it doesn’t have to be that way!
Becoming an Active Communicator
In the kingdom of love, we say that the first step, accepting and enjoying reality as it is here and now, is the most difficult step! You have to get rid of all the programming that made you believe
that you are “not enough” in any aspect of your life. Yes, you have weak points and strong points. Everybody has. Your role on earth is to grow the unique strengths you have and use them to help other beings grow themselves and make all, including you, reach a blissful life. So the first being you have to love is you!
But you don’t make up love! You have it or you don’t!
That’s the fatal error of surface people! You made fear the dominant force of your reality. Fear is
the opposite of love. We, people of the love kingdom, learn as children that everyone can love and
increase love. We just learn how to conquer our fears.
But fears are useful to survive!
To survive, yes! But to live a fulfilling happy life? Abusing fear, you focus on all the possible reasons to fear anything: sickness, poverty, ill-being, death. And it works great! The more you focus your attention on something, the bigger it becomes. You become what you think about most! The crazy system of the surface is made to take power over others by using fear. That’s how internally weak and insecure people take power. Using fear! You see it in any field: relationships, politics, business, even religion.
The so-called marketing tools have only one aim. Make you believe that as long as you don’t buy whatever they promote or sell, you must feel incomplete, weak, not equal to the rest of your fellow human beings, and above all not lovable, worst, not loved. The ultimate form of fear!
Do you mean that people would do anything to feel loved by others because they don’t love themselves to start with? That this dependency is at the origin of problems like addiction to alcohol, nicotine, and drugs?
Exactly! How can you love others and get loved by them, which is the same, if you don’t acknowledge your value as a unique being? Why would anyone love you?
Me teaching the whole world? Impossible!
Nothing is impossible for those on a mission and the most valuable mission is to create the world you want by making love its strongest force. I’ll show you that sharing is at the base of love. Today with the Internet you can easily reach millions of people to start with. So let us start:
Chapter three
The Teachings of Little Princess
Rule number one: Everyone and everything is lovable!
Tough start! That’s plain stupid. How can I love the worst criminals? How can I love objects?
First, love is in the way you look at things. And that, you can change at will! And yes criminals
have chosen a way of suffering. They opted for hate and violence. In other words, they made fear
their master. They believed they had no choice. They had to kill or make others suffer, or else they
would have to suffer or be killed themselves. But deep inside they desperately wanted to be loved.
They just had more fear than love at the time of their evil-doings.
So you might not like their acts or behaviors, but as persons, they have the same potential of worthy
creation as anyone. As human beings, they are lovable, although they might need some serious
mental and psychological adjustments and retraining! And some do amazingly wonderful things
when they realize how badly they behaved. See, each person is a potential genius with a pearl or a
diamond hidden inside, sometimes really well hidden! You say you can’t love an object.
How about loving the whole universe? Discovering the beauty of nature? Its magnificence? Again, it all depends on the way you look at the world. You can focus your attention on horrors or beauties. Your choice! It just happens that focusing on horror makes you unhappy while focusing on beauty makes you happy. So if you want to create joy and none of the bad feelings or emotions, you have to put yourself in a state of unconditional love.
Well, that’s a rosy painting of the outside world, but things happen and they are not all that rosy!
Besides, how can I choose to be loving when I feel the whole world is out there to get me?
Rule number two: The more you give love, the more you get love!
Yes, you are right, that’s the key to well-being! It can be learned. It just takes some time and effort, for most people a whole life! I’ll teach you the fastest way.
